I'm going to get very good at this
Planting :How To Build A Raised Planter Bed
We have about 50 beds in the community garden. Approximately 4 of them are already raised. I hope to have the rest done by the end of the summer. Wish me luck.
Also, if anyone has any source for untreated wood in the city, can you let me know?
Sweet! I need to build between 4 and 6 of these this spring, so this is awesome.
I want to use untreated cedar and dunno from where either. the Lee Valley website, which sells the brackets, has some decent advice. At least for a newbie like me.
jenB – you can buy untreated cedar at any lumber yard or home hardware store. We are working on a pretty tight budget so I’m looking (and have found!) some free stuff.
where did you find it? i am all about free if that is an option.
Well…. I posted it on my blog and got an offer of un-used deck wood (Thanks Lise and Jason!)
As well, my brother works in construction as I got some that way.
Then I sweet talked the guys doing construction next to the garden and we get everything they don’t use.
I plan to try and get a deal on supplies from the local hardware store tomorrow. They tend to be nice to community gardens.
