It's not you, it's me

I’m taking a break from the blogging.

This could only be until my final is done on Saturday or for a longer time. My first thought is that I want some time to concentrate on other things that have become more important to me than this hobby and that takes up much more of my time.

I understand the value of dirtyolive.net and I appreciate the confidence the blog has given me in my writing. However, as many of you know, I have been contemplating leaving this site for some time now.

Recent events and recurrent problems have me thinking that this venure isn’t the best form of comunication with my friends and family.

Regardless, this may not be a permanent break. I may return in the New Year. I am seriously considering a new blog altogether and if this happens I would like to contact readers here and direct them to the new site. However, I will no longer be writing about my family so my status as a Mommy Blogger will finish here.

If you are interested in my new site, if I continue to blog in the new year, please email me at dirtygreenolive@hotmail.com

Thanks.

Really.

  2. Of course I’d like to know if you start up elsewhere.

  3. Please keep me in the loop!

  4. Good luck on finals and I’d like to know if you start up again!

  5. I’ve already emailed you (sorry about the sappiness) but I also wanted to comment here that you are one of the undiscovered Mommy bloggers in Canada. You are a good writer and you wrote about more than what you need to do or what you have done in a day. You care more than what is going on in a typically small world that stay at home mom’s tend to have and I appreciated it. This is why I think you will be very successful at another blog that isn’t full of mommy content. I wish I knew you in real likfe. I think you are pretty amazing to read on the internet and I am both sad and happy that you are moving on.

  6. best of luck to you on your exams!

I’ll follow your writing wherever it takes me! Keep me up to date too please, Ada!

  7. Sorry to hear you are moving on, you’ve had a pretty good ride since 2000. Let us know if you start up again, I will check in after the new year. Say buh bye to Franklin for me.

  9. oh dear. Part of me wants to really whine…….nooooooooooooo puleeeeeeeze don’t stop. Come on think it over again. Maybe put the computer in the loo and you could sort out the blog while you are doing bathroom things. It will work….don’t get hung up on hygiene….and no one will hear you flush.

count me in for the new blog. I do really like the variety of your thought process in this gig….but maybe I will get used to the new one and not miss this one (talkin myself off the wall).

    sigh

    still be you ok?

    argghh….if I only could picket your house…..yah that’s what I would do…..if I lived in Canada!

so not dealing with this well…i am sure I am not the only one
you better write me and tell me it will all be ok

  10. Could you email me back to make sure that you got my email?
I want to make sure I get your next blog. I know you will write again. I think you have too many interesting things to say to not blog. I remember a long time ago you said that you would stop when Franklin got old enough to read. Is this why you are stopping too? What has been happening with family and friends? You are very good at keeping a lid on the drama, aren’t you. Dammit.

  11. alright, you know what’s best.

  15. Too bad you won`t be writing anymore as a mom. I accidentally opened your blog and found myself reading all you had writtten in it and remembering when my kids were little. I felt like I myself could have written what you did. Good luck!

  18. Blogging can be exhausting can’t it? I am going back and forth between liking it and giving up altogether.
(I want to know if you start up again too. Enjoy your break, :)

  19. good luck with your studies….and you know do what you have to do with regards to blogging…..i have read a lot of sentiment like yours as of late….I wonder if it is just the season….regardless…all the best!!!

  20. Hi Ada,

This is probably a flash from the past as you rack your brain and think: “jenny hill? who the heck is that again?” so here i am to transport your brain back to bookstore days – actually i retract that as i think you might want to leave that behind : )

I must admit I’m not much of a blog reader and am not familiar with, what i am sure, is a large body of commentary about why people like blogs. I do know from my perspective that it has been very interesting for me to keep tabs on you anonymously : ) okay, that sounds a little creepy and stalkerish. an explanation is required! i don;t know why, but about a month ago the words “dirty olive” popped into my head. and then i remembered that it was the name of your blog many moons ago. i checked to see if you were still at it, and sure enough you were.

and i have more than enjoyed hearing about frank’s growing up as well as all things west coast (I’m in ontario – blech). i think i can honestly say that your commentary about motherhood is the only i’ve ever heard from a mommy (either verbal or written) that i find interesting, enjoy and has made me think that maybe i should reverse my thoughts about a baby-free existence. and so i am sad to hear that it will be no longer when i have just discovered it – but this is the way things go sometimes.

i will miss the west coast breeze of information, but best of luck to you in whatever your new endeavours are. take care sunshine – jenny

  21. Awww, I will miss hearing about your family, your thoughts, and your life. Your blog was one of the first that really got me interested in writing.
I hope you keep in touch,

    Take good care,

    Eve

  22. I don’t know if this at all relates:
I know what it’s like to constantly expose yourself. It feels like the right thing to do and it’s rewarding, but it also easily becomes tyeing and emotionally strenuous.

  23. Keep me in the loop! Happy New Year!

  24. I have throughly enjoyed reading about your son and the adventures you have with him…your blog acted as a quiet escape for me. Please send me the new URL if you decide to blog again.
