Singapore

I got an email a little while ago from a woman in Singapore who wrote for the Straits Times Interactive. There were a couple of questions about my weblog and a couple of questions about me and... low and behold, I'm the "Blog of the Week" in Digital Life.

You can see the article here.

You'll have to register to get access to the paper.
It'll be good for you. I think it's one of the more popular English newspapers in Singapore and shouldn't everyone read the paper from another part of the world every now and then?

Unless you're like my paranoid friend who refuses to put her name anywhere because.... shhhhhhhh.. Big Brother might be watching.
News Flash.
Big Brother has been watching for a while now and he knows you turn your underwear inside out and wear it twice in a row because you didn't do any laundry over the weekend.

Think of it as my little weblog feature (accompanied by a smashing photo of me looking suspiciously like a drag queen) as an added bonus to gaining a larger perspective on life.

Thanks for passing along the link to the article. You won't be able to walk the streets of Singapore without people pestering Franklin for autographs! (and I don't think you look too queenish)

Ha!

and , thanks.

- not that drag queens are all that bad looking. Some of my best friends are drag queens.

(really)

Hey Ada, it's Marie from the bookstore.
You can also use www.bugmenot.com to avoid having to register for certain sites...it's a pretty useful website.

Erhm, the Straits Times is the ONLY local paper. Every other paper is owned by SPH or other related goverment-linked entities (although supposedly private). Sad truth about Singapore - the media is just a mouthpiece for Big Brother, aka the Government. And that's with a capital G, mind you.

By the way, I believe the ST Interactive now charges you for access...

Otherwise, love your site. Glad Digital Life brought it to us here in Sunny Singapore.

God Ada or should I say Ada Godess of the WWW! I think you are becoming a star. Now it will be even cooler to be seen with you and yours in public. I guess I'm a D.O. groupie now.

Hsin,

Thanks for clarifying. I know people here who would say that although there are several non-government newspapers, they are all owned by the same cooperations...

*Big Brother.
*Not Just In Your Family Anymore.

I had no problem accessing STI although I had thought that I read that it was charging as well.

I like the paper though. I think I'll be a regular reader.

just for the record....I DO NOT turn my underwear inside out and wear it two days in a row.....the fact is, I rarely wear underwear so I don't have to worry about my laundry building up......hmpf!

ps. Big brother likes that I don't wear underwear......

hey ada just saw that entry. hope you liked the article. as i said, they copy editors cut it down a lot (you wouldn't believe how much - but that's just the way it is i guess) but i still hope what remained of it was to your liking. will try to send the article over soon. take care :)
